EX-CHANGE 2020
Designing and curating an unexpectedly virtual exhibition.
Playful memory
During the COVID-19 Lockdown, this exhibit aimed to make playful abstractions of the CMU campus to bring student work to life.
Critical questions
Student work is then curated under critical questions to encourage interdisciplinary juxtapositions across the experience.
From sketching to making.
The gallery experience, virtually
As guests explore, they are invited to view and interact with student work at different scales and in new contexts.
During our user testing, it was important for guests to experience the work at an increasingly intimate level, where they can understand it not only as a soliloquy but as a note in a larger melody.
Enjoying the process
Ideating through sketches and photographs, 3D models became the basis for our campus-memory-collage.
Applying UX skills to build an online exhibition
A careful understanding of online space became critical to forming this virtual experience.
Curating events, programs, and student work
The juxtaposition and cross-pollination of work was a key goal of EX-CHANGE 2020.
